Fernheizwerk Neukoelln AG
Fernheizwerk Neukölln AG engages in the production and distribution of district heating through the operation of a supply network and a central heating plant. The company is headquartered in Berlin, Berlin and currently employs 51 full-time employees. The firm's district heating system is a network of underground pipes that pump steam and hot water around the district. Its network is comprised of 88.1 kilometers of piping and 1,023 district heating stations. Buildings have access via basement delivery stations, from which hot water is pumped around radiators. The system is fully automated so that the level of heating provided is appropriate according to the atmospheric temperature. The firm offers its services to approximately 36,000 clients, including Neukoelln's department stores, hotels, industrial and private customers as well as public institutions. As of December 31, 2011, Fernheizwerk Neukoelln AG was 80.80%-owned by Vattenfall Europe Waerme AG.
